Why choose us?
Evolution is run by Australia’s most educated acting coach, Aaron Walton, who brings a fun, grounded, articulate, and heartfelt approach to actor training. This allows for a supportive and exciting environment where actors of all ages feel empowered to bravely explore creatively from a place of love not fear. The training includes exposure to a variety of techniques including VCA, Stanislavki, Alexander, Laban, Chekhov, Meisner, etc. The approach is supported by Aaron’s background in psychological science (he is a registered psychologist), which helps articulate the acting process on a level grounded in science of the mind, behaviour, and emotion. This also facilitates the exploration of emotional depth safely and with a spirit of fun and support, which helps students to grow as people, a necessity for growth as an actor.

“I highly recommend doing Aaron’s classes! He taught me how to be and let go when acting. My confidence in life in all areas has reached new heights because of his methods, that has contributed to my everyday life. I have done many acting courses and have been taught by a number of different teachers, but i have benefited the most through Aaron’s teaching. You will not regret it.”

You taught me so much and really have helped me continue on this path as not only an actor, but as a human with a more open mind. You have no idea how beneficial that has been.

Hi Aaron….the more I do acting the more I want to learn….I’m very passionate about acting and find a real strong connection with everybody in it….the deep conversation we had last week. Really brought us all closer….your an amazing teacher with special teaching skills…..one thing I love about acting is the journey of self discovery and I feel it’s really helped me come out of my shell and opened up….I am enjoying being a student and learning the skills necessary to become a good actor but one day I’m hoping to get some work in it…so once again thank you very much Aaron….Cheers

I struggled a lot with my life in the past couple of months but things I learnt from you would boost me back up. I really hope you do get the school because so many people can learn so much from you. This small paragraph doesn’t come close to expressing how grateful and thankful I truly am for you mentoring. Thank you Aaron.

When I first decided to start acting I was extremely nervous. I had no idea what the class would be like and of course, what the teacher’s methods would be. From the moment I arrived, Aaron was quick to make sure I felt welcomed and comfortable. After my very first class, I was hooked and knew that I would continue to go back. He leads a very safe, judgement and ego free class and he reiterates that with each new student.
Aaron is always ready to help in any way and is willing to answer any questions I have; big or small. He likes to remind us that there is no such thing as a stupid question, and I always find his answers enlightening and eye opening. He encourages you to try new things, break out of your shell, and that it’s okay to just make mistakes. He makes you feel like you’re a part of something special.
Of all his students I’ve spoken to, we’ve all said the same thing; if we no longer wanted to continue acting, we would still come to the classes for the sense of community. It is very obvious to see that he cares about each and every one of his students, and really makes an effort with them. I really respect his style of teaching as it’s uniquely tailored to fit everyone’s different learning styles.
His constructive criticism has helped me grow not only as an actor, but as an individual. Aaron has helped me to work on the things that need work, and to recognise my strengths and build on them, He teaches us so much more than just acting and believes strongly that there is no one way to act. We all learn how to recognise what works for us and what doesn’t, and with that we can strive to be the best actors we can be.
He appreciates everyone’s skills no matter what level we may be at, and is so enthusiastic and encouraging when we do well in a scene. I would recommend Aaron’s class to anyone wanting to start out their acting career, to build confidence, or add to their knowledge of acting. It’s such a supportive and enjoyable place to be. It’s evident Aaron really prides himself in his teaching, and that makes you proud to be his student.

Thank you for a wonderful session yesterday.
It was fantastic to see the energetic magic of you making the “present moment” visceral. I expect it made a huge and lasting impact on all.
Congratulations on a powerful and effective piece of inspirational acting (Applause).

Aaron is such an enlightened teacher. He is honest, open and extremely supportive. He cares about his students and devises unique activities in his classes which helps them tap into their emotional range – a skill which is imperative to an actor. Working with Aaron not only opens your eyes to the true side of acting as a profession and craft, but also opens your eyes to how acting can enrich your everyday life.

Despite being busier than a centre-leaning conservative pollie looking for like-minded friends in the Liberal Party, Aaron Walton made time to do a one-off mega-rehearsal. Mate, so much fun but more importantly so valuable to get your expert and incisive views at any stage of the process.

Aaron is motivating. He makes me want to learn more and take on more complicated roles as an actress. He is passionate about what he does and that rubs off on everyone he teaches. I find myself in detailed discussions with my class and Aaron where we can explore and challenge our ideas. Aaron is able to evoke more out of us as actors and make us feel free enough to make bold decisions. As well as widening out comfort zone and feeling okay to be outside out comfort zone. His dedication is catchy and evident in his class plans. I have had the privilege to and really enjoyed working with and alongside him. I have been able to see him work with actors of all ages and abilities and he is capable of making everyone feel confident and excited. Aaron inspires me to not only think outside the box but to stand outside the box and look further.

Aaron has taught me for almost 2 years now and not only have I found his classes to be greatly beneficial for both my acting and life skills but have enjoyed this time immensely. I really like the way Aaron incorporates so much more than simply acting into his classes and encourages us to find what works for us, giving us initiative over our learning. I am very thankful for all I have learnt from Aaron and the effort he invests in making the classes as enriching as possible is obvious. Joining his classes has reminded me of why I enjoy acting.

Aaron is an incredibly talented and unique actor and teacher. He is passionate, free-spirited, generous, warm, loving, instinctual, intelligent, experienced and formally trained. All these things and more make him a remarkable teacher and mentor. His students, from kids to adults, hold him in the highest regard. They always leave the class feeling truly inspired and never fail to have the greatest time.

I loved working with aaron. Beautiful actor: intelligent, clear, beautiful, intuitive, instinctive, sensitive, creative, inventive, fun. Couldn’t fault his process. Methodical and instinctive, a gracious company member. I loved watching him respond instinctively to the audience. Utterly individual and unique – I can’t think of anyone else who is like him. Wonderful.

Without being prompted or asked by him, I would like to genuinely congratulate Aaron Walton on his new endeavour and recommend him to any potential student of acting. I was fortunate enough to teach Aaron many years ago when he was a foundations student at the Victorian College of the Arts and then direct him in an independent production. I was then delighted to see him accepted into the full-time acting course at VCA and watch him continue to develop into the fantastic artist he is today. Aaron is dedicated to his art form, he is generous, open, thoughtful and intelligent and one of the most talented, hard-working and diligent artists I have had the pleasure of collaborating with. His entrepreneurial nature and his love of theatre and film make him the ideal person to be teaching, inspiring and managing an acting academy like this. I have no hesitation at all in wishing him every success and encouraging anyone to enrol and work with him and his team. Aaron’s work and art are both his passion and vocation and working with him can only bring you closer to your full potential as an artist. Congratulations! Best wishes,
Emma Carroll
You create such a warm environment, although it may not seem it all the time because i am mostly loud and annoying, i get really nervous in social situations and often feel like i don’t know what to do with myself but your classes have never made me feel like that.
My time at Screen Actors has built my confidence and given me a place where i can feel like myself without being judged.
As a teacher, i respect you very much and i know that all of your students feel the exact same way. You have reminded me to always question something i don’t understand or something i do just to understand it even more so.

I could happily write thousands of letters about my acting teacher Mr. Aaron Walton, but quite frankly, my vocabulary doesn’t consist of enough synonyms to display my utter awe towards him.
Aaron brings his full presence, offering 100% devotion, emotion and attention throughout every class. This provides his students with an immense opportunity to grow, not only as actors, but as people, living and learning through his practices and stories. Really taking an interest in his students allows for an exceedingly tight-knit group of young actors, creating an incredibly comfortable environment for students to make mistakes, explore new techniques and share triumphs.
With highly thought out and well-constructed classes, students have the chance to grasp all the necessities needed to perform at their best. The intense acting exercises, along with discussion and interpretation of the practises, can open doors to new techniques which can be used by the actor while on set. Aaron caters his classes for actors of all levels of experience by always encouraging them to get the best out of their creative potential, but never excessively pushing.
By sharing experiences throughout his own acting career, discussing visions, politics, religion and morals throughout 21st century society, students can discuss reincarnate these views, known to be shown passionately on set. He has taught all his students to become better people. To give more, think more, love more, explore more and be more.
I think I speak for my whole class when I say, we can only hope that one day we could become as knowledgeable and awe inspiring as Aaron Walton. Getting into the present moment is so important in acting. “How we pay attention to the present moment… determines the character of our experience and… the quality of our lives.” This is a quote by Sam Harris, who is Aaron’s most beloved author, I know that because he had shared this with us, which has made me a more substantial and knowledgeable person. I’m grateful for this, and that Aaron has the opportunity to be able to touch the hearts of many young aspiring actors, to truly make a difference.
